The basis for responsible judgement

Strata Insight supports heritage, cultural, and community organisations to shape, deliver, and understand projects that aim to create meaningful change, and to consider what can be said responsibly about wellbeing and social impact

This work is grounded in proportionate rigour, conceptual clarity, and ethical restraint. The emphasis is not on maximising claims, but on producing evidence that is credible, useful, and defensible.

Strata Insight is led by Dickie Bennett, a practitioner-researcher whose work is grounded in the design and delivery of heritage and community projects, alongside applied research and consultancy. He is currently completing a PhD focused on evaluating wellbeing outcomes in heritage engagement, with particular attention to how wellbeing is defined, measured, and interpreted in non-clinical settings. This research draws on systematic reviews of the heritage–wellbeing evidence base and informs all Strata Insight work. It is shaped by, and continuously tested against, the realities of project design, delivery, and participant experience.

Alongside academic research, Dickie has extensive applied experience working within heritage and community contexts, as well as consultancy and advisory roles delivered for, and in partnership with, organisations including the United States Department of Defense, the UK Ministry of Defence, and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, alongside British universities, national heritage bodies, and programmes funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This experience reinforces a careful, ethically grounded approach to project design, delivery, and evaluation, particularly in complex or sensitive contexts.
